Group Exercise Class Descriptions

Circuit Training
A mix of strength training and cardio pumping exercise. With some weights and resistance bands, super set muscle building exercises will be combined with cardio blasts of kick box, step and hi-lo aerobics.
This class is geared for intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

Flow Yoga:
A Vinyasa based yoga for all levels designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, balance, and relieve stress.

Group Cycling:
Group Cycling is a unique program based on the outdoor cycling methods of competitive cyclists. This class incorporates various resistances
(gears) with the appropriate RPM's for maximum rider efficiency and safety. Participants will learn the proper techniques necessary to experience higher VO2 levels for increased cardiovascular performance and greater caloric expenditure. First timers need to allow a little extra time for orientation and proper bike set up. This 50-minute class truly accommodates all fitness levels. Bring water!

Step: 
This cardiovascular workout utilizing a platform has been predominant in the exercise field for years!  It is sure to get your heart pumping with high energy fun filled choreography and drills to keep your both your mind and body working!  All choreographies are broken down into simple routines for everyone to follow—great for beginners and advanced alike.  Class may also include some muscle conditioning and abdominal work.

Step & Pump:
One hour step interval class that combines high-intensity step combinations with low intensity muscle conditioning. Work your whole body to achieve improved cardio fitness and muscular endurance!

Strength and Conditioning:
A strength class designed to strengthen all the major muscle groups.  Commonly used equipment includes dumbells, bodybars, resistance tubes, and stability balls.

Sunrise Yoga:
A series of balance, strength and flexibility poses and movements that will connect your body, mind and spirit. Build physical and mental muscle!!

Turbo Kick :
Turbo kick is the hottest exercise class around! Sure, it's kickboxing, but it's so much more! You'll kick, punch and groove the calories away in this action-packed, super fun, super safe and effective cardiovascular workout.

Zumba®:
The Zumba® program fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. The routines feature interval training, where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba® class!  Inspiring music, fun dance moves, high-energy and fitness principles come together for a truly unique and effective workout.

 

Fitness Improvement Program (FIP)
This program is primarily for those that scored unsatisfactory on their fitness assessment. Class will be capped at 35 with priority going to those that have scored unsatisfactory. If space permits anyone can attend.  
Monday:  Intervals
Tuesday:  Low to moderate intensity cardio and resistance training
Wednesday:  Cardio Surprise
Thursday:  Total Body Conditioning
Friday:  Low Intensity/long duration cardio

F.I.T.T. PRINCIPLE:  FREQUENCY, INTENSITY, TIME, TECHNIQUE

Aerobic 
F – 3 to 5 days per week
I –
Moderate/Vigorous
T –
30 minutes/ 20 – 25 minutes
T –
Aerobic activity either moderate or vigorous or a combination of the two

*Note:  To effectively lose weight, one would have to participate in more cardiovascular activity than stated above.

Strength
F – At least 2 days per week
I –
At least 1 set or 8-12 repetitions performed at either moderate or high intensity to muscular fatigue
T –
Greater than or equal to 20 minutes for 8-10 muscle groups
T –
Exercises for each large muscle group (core, legs, chest, back, arms)

Flexibility
F – 2 to 3 day per week (or after a workout)
I –
To a position of mild discomfort, not to the point of pain
T –
10 to 30 seconds, 3 to 4 sets
T –
Stretches for each large muscle group (core, legs, chest, back, arms)
